What are your Leica workshop days at the Nesslerhof like?
Day 1: Theory and arrival at the Nesslerhof
The introduction to Leica photography begins at 4.00 pm at the Nesslerhof. During this theory session, you will be given a thorough introduction to the world of photography. Topics such as camera settings, lighting and composition will be explained in an accessible way and supplemented with valuable tips from a professional. There will also be time for personal questions and individual concerns.
From 6.30 pm, the day draws to a close with a group dinner. In a relaxed atmosphere, there will be plenty of opportunity to chat, share first impressions and look forward to the days ahead.
Tag 2: Leica Workshop und Almomente im Großarltal
The second day is the centrepiece of your workshop and combines photography with an authentic alpine experience. The morning begins at a leisurely pace, with plenty of time for breakfast and settling in.
At 10.30 am, a guided, easy hike through the countryside around Großarl begins. This route takes you on a mindful journey through the alpine landscape of the ‘Valley of the Alpine Pastures’ and offers unique perspectives for the Leica workshop. Light, nature and details are observed with care and captured through the lens.
Our destination is a traditional alpine hut in the Großarl Valley. Here you’ll experience genuine Salzburg hospitality, regional specialities and the authentic atmosphere of the Austrian Alps. Wood, craftsmanship, living tradition and authentic cuisine combine to create a moment that goes far beyond photography.
After this shared moment at the alpine hut, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. Whether it’s a spa, some quiet time, more photography or some time to yourself – you decide how to round off this special day.
Tag 3: Person Shooting und alpine Geschichten
On the third day, the focus shifts to portrait photography. At 10.30 am, a special on-location shoot begins, during which a local figure from the Großarltal valley is photographed. Whether it’s baking traditional Krapfen or spending time with Ignaz, the sauna master – the session offers authentic insights into the life and culture of the region.
The focus is on portraiture, character and story. Guests will learn to capture emotions, expressions and genuine moments. For all participants, this experience offers a particularly fascinating insight into Austrian traditions and way of life.
Afterwards, there’s time for some personal relaxation at the Nesslerhof. Whether it’s a massage, a drink in the Garden Bar or a few relaxing hours by the natural swimming pond – the afternoon is all yours.
From 6.30 pm, all guests meet again for dinner together and round off the day in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 4: Review of the photographs and closing event at the Nesslerhof
The fourth day is dedicated to reflection and sharing ideas. At 10.30 am, the photo review begins as part of a workshop at the Nesslerhof.
Together, you will select and discuss the best shots. You will receive professional feedback on composition, impact and expression. In addition, you will be given valuable tips on image editing and on further developing your photographic eye.
This workshop marks the end of your Leica retreat and rounds off your time together at the Nesslerhof.
The afternoon is free for you to spend as you wish. If you’d like, you can use the time for a final visit to the Premium Spa or enjoy the hotel’s special atmosphere one last time.
The final group dinner takes place from 6.30 pm. An atmospheric finale full of memories, conversations and special moments.
